Throughout the night, Fayetteville-Manlius was down, whether it was 3-2 after one, 7-3 at the half, or 7-6 at the end of three, but no matter what the score was, the Hornets didn’t quit.

Early in the fourth quarter, the visitors finally caught up to Liverpool and even gained an 8-7 advantage halfway through, nonetheless the Warriors would find a crack in the defense before the two sides exchanged goals once again, making it 9-9 and sending it into overtime, where the Hornets conceded the goal that immediately handed them the 10-9 loss.

But during the furious comeback that fell short, the Hornets were really filling up the box score. Five players in green and white uniforms found the back of the net, and a couple of them sent the ball by the keeper more than once, including Jack Shanley, who had four goals and an assist in the game.

Zach Nestor also helped F-M cause chaos and confusion for Liverpool. He scored two goals and had one assist. Some other Hornets who scored include Tommy Farry, Kyle Gilroy, and Mikey Porter.

For F-M, this marks the second straight heartbreaking loss, as it unraveled late in the game against Baldwinsville on Wednesday night and was held scoreless in the fourth quarter.

The Hornets play again on Tuesday, when they host Cicero-North Syracuse (3-3, 0-2) at 6:30 p.m., and Liverpool had a back-to-back and beat Essex Junction, 18-11, on Saturday, which helped it improve to 5-0, 2-0.
